Ewgeco Press Release
—Ewgeco Scooped The Changing Behaviour Trophy At The Prestigious 2012 Vision In Business For The Environment Of Scotland (Vibes) Awards In Glasgow—
Clean Tech Firm, Ewgeco has been recognised for its commitment to environmental excellence at Scotland’s leading sustainable business awards (on Thursday, 29 November).
Ewgeco based in Edinburgh won the Changing Behaviour Award beating off stiff competition from businesses across Scotland and was presented with their award at this year’s VIBES 2012 awards ceremony, which was held at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel.
Now in its thirteenth year, the Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) awards programme recognises the commitment, actions and achievements of Scottish companies in reducing their impact on the environment.
The VIBES Changing Behaviour Award is sponsored by Chivas Brothers, the Scotch whisky and premium gin business of Pernod Ricard. The Changing Behaviour Award recognises businesses whose employee, customer and supply chain engagement initiatives have helped deliver continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Tanya Ewing, marketing and business development director and company co-founder of Ewgeco, said: “Needless to say we are absolutely delighted to win this prestigious VIBES award and be recognised for the work Ewgeco is doing to help tackle energy waste, reduce CO2 and cut utility bills. It’s so important to continuously drive behavioural change and that’s just what our live energy displays do.”
Gillian Bruce, VIBES chair, said: “I would like to congratulate Ewgeco on their award win. Their hard work and dedication has made a significant contribution to Scotland achieving its 2020 carbon reduction targets.
“Our judges were very impressed with their commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the business and I would encourage other businesses across the country to follow this lead.”
Chivas Brothers technical director, Gordon Buist, said: “We were delighted to present the award for Changing Behaviour to Ewgeco. Like all forward-thinking businesses, we understand the importance of finding new and innovative ways to continually reduce our carbon footprint, whether through investing in new technology, or simply by finding better ways of working.”
VIBES is a strategic partnership between: Scottish Water, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Zero Waste Scotland, Carbon Trust, CBI Scotland, Co-operative Development Scotland, Green Business Partnership, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Government and Energy Saving Trust, Scotland.
David Wilson, director of Energy and Climate Change at the Scottish Government provided the keynote speech at the event.
The VIBES awards scheme is the only Scottish awards scheme which feeds into the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE). Winning a VIBES Award means that companies are eligible to the EBAE, an awards scheme that attracts entries from Europe’s most environmentally positive businesses.
Other VIBES Awards sponsors this year included: Management Award (SME) sponsor Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI), Environmental & Clean Technology Award sponsor Scottish Power and Energy Award sponsor the Scottish Government.
